One of my favorite things to do is to create Photomontages. This one composed of four images is called Healing Water Meditation. I have been creating photo montages since my film days . Back then I sandwiched negatives together in the dark room. Today most of the work in done in my digital darkroom with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Painter.
Love Bidwell Park. The park was established July 10, 1905 through the donation by Annie Bidwell of approximately 2,500 acres of land to the City of Chico. Since that time, the City has purchased additional land, such as Cedar Grove in 1922, and 1,200 acresof land south of Big Chico Creek in upper Bidwell Park in 1995. Today, the total Park size is 3,670 acres, nearly 11 miles in length, making it the third largest municipal park in California and one of the 25 largest city parks in the United States.
Above is the panorama of one mile park that I did in 2005. Click the image to view a larger photo. Over the years the park has given me a plethora of memories. Unfortunately since the budget cuts and staff reductions have reduced services and hours that park gates and other facilities are open.
Wow did 2013 go by fast or what? Yikes each year seems to speed by faster and faster. Lots of changes for us in 2013. We sold our home in Paradise and moved back to Chico. Then close to the end of the year we sold our building on the Skyway and decided to work from home. Click this link to see a test sample of my latest web project for Sierra-Hall in Paradise CA.
Just wanted to share this fantastic local guitar playing singer from our area. Take a listen and share so he can win this contest that could change his life. He deserves it.
This is one of my photo montages. Done simply with 2 photos layered together with masks in Photoshop CS6. Check out the gallery of his photos on our Studio blog .
A new PBS Travel Show
What a wonderful idea. They need some support and I’m sure every little bit helps. Christine Mac Shane and Trisha Coder are hitting the road and are going to a half hour show like no one’s ever seen. They’ll take you behind the scenes of some of the country’s oddest landmarks, least known hidden gems and show you the stops you should make off any highway.
Today has been a website work day. Updating plugins, applications, and finishing up a self storage website. The end is in sight. For a little while anyway. Lucky for me I love what I do. Time passes by so quickly……it keeps on slipping away into the future. I still can’t believe it is June already. Before I know it I’ve been at the computer non stop since 6am. I take short breaks of course. My husband Alain is recovering from Rotator Cuff surgery and so my nursing duties call. Below is a screen shot and link to my latest project. Then I have a revamp project for a JPilar Wines to do. Never seem to find time to update my own site. This is the first blog post I’ve written in ages. I guess my new years resolution didn’t work.
It has been a long time since I have posted. My resolution was to try to post at least once a month. Ah….. time keeps on slipping into the future. My intentions are good. So much has changed for us this last year. The studio has survived the economic downturn. We are still here! Yeah!! We love what we do and hope to keep changing with the times. New products on the horizon are iphone covers with personalized with your photos. Tell us what you would like to see. I have not kept this website up to date because I have been busy helping others keep theirs up to date. I know excuses, excuses, my bad.
Here a sign I just created recently for a local non profit, California Vocations. They have opened a new Thrift Store.
Another year gone by in the blink of an eye! Wow. Hope everyone’s Christmas and New Year Holidays were wonderful. We have been working hard to keep our studio running smoothly. Our devoted clients keep us alive in this down economy. We are so blessed with a wonderful family, friends, and clients. We are ready for 2012. Our goal this year is to communicate better with everyone, keep our blog alive and updated! Yes! We love what we do and will continue to keep up with the latest trends yet preserve the traditional too.
The Relay for Life is very personal to us. We have had a lot of friends and family lose their battle to cancer. Pictured in the panorama below are a few. Unfortunately each year the list grows. Luckily there are also survivors in our life.
This fundraiser gives us this unique opportunity to celebrate the lives of all those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and support the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving mission by fighting back against a disease that has already taken too much. If you want to donate click here to go to our personal page for Relay for Life in Paradise CA.
Spring time, ah the beauty of flowers in the spring. We have had a crazy winter this year so spring is a little later than usual. We still have daffodils which are normally gone by now. April showers did bring us so many beautiful flowers.
It’s May, it’s may! Spring Fever and time to tend to the garden and bask in the beauty and joy that it brings. The greenery this time of year is so nourishing and healing.
One of my favorite all time songs is “It’s May” from Camelot. Below are part of the lyrics of the chorus. Who sang that song?
“Tra la! It’s May!
The lusty month of May!
That lovely month when ev’ryone goes
Blissfully astray.
Tra la! It’s here!
That shocking time of year
When tons of wicked little thoughts
Merrily appear!
It’s May! It’s May!”
The word for today is backup. What do you use to backup your important files? The cloud? An external hard drive. DVD’s or CD’s? All of the above. We have had some bad luck with Western Digital external hard drives. Lost 2 so far and one was unrecoverable by an expert who works for the City and the Police department. Bummer!
We do use an online service called Carbonite and now have found that LaCie hard drives are the most durable, so far. The hardest part of backup is the fact that you should backup to two different locations whether they be online or on an external hard drive. Dropbox is cool for sharing files across computers. It is a free service that lets you bring all your photos, docs, and videos anywhere! Ah technology!

Our Help-Portrait event was a success. It was last Saturday at The Family Resource Center in Paradise right across the street from our studio. We had 3 local photographers and 17 volunteers. We took photographs of 110 people. It was so rewarding and some of the families had never had a professional portrait. We are already planning next year.
